The 25-year-old took to Instagram after the singer died after falling 45 feet from a hotel balcony in Argentina on Wednesday.
She told her followers she was “completely disoriented” and that “nothing about the last few days has been real”.
Kate later posted the number 444 in the bottom right corner of the tribute alongside a red heart emoji.
The number has many hidden meanings and is considered an angel number in numerology.
Angel numbers are repeating sequences of numbers, usually in sets of three or four, and are believed to carry spiritual guidance.
While 333 represents growth and 555 represents change, 444 has its own unique meaning.
In numerology, 444 is a sign that “angels are with you” and “there to guide you every step of the way.”
The way the numbers are formed means they represent stability and the assurance that you are not alone.
Numerology expert Sunny Dawn Johnston tells Glamour: ‘When you see these numbers, know that deep within you, angels are speaking to you, guiding and supporting you.
‘It’s a blessing to be able to communicate directly with the divine.’
Kate had originally flown to Buenos Aires with Liam to see former bandmate Niall Horan in concert on October 4.
However, the late singer remained in the Argentine capital after Kate flew back home on October 14.
He passed away on Wednesday evening and Kate posted a heartfelt tribute on her Instagram yesterday.
The note read: ‘Thank you everyone for all the kind words and love you have sent me. I am truly confused.
‘Nothing about the past few days has been real. I ask and pray that you will give me the grace and space to process this privately.
‘Liam, my angel. You are my everything. I want you to know that I love you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam.’
Kate and Liam began dating in October 2022 and made their red carpet debut at the Fashion Awards later that year.
However, the pair sparked split rumours in May 2023, with a source telling US Weekly: ‘Liam and Kate have split.’
The pair later put split rumours to rest with a date in London in June 2023, and later that year she showed her support when he was hospitalised with a “severe kidney infection”.
The former One Direction star fell from the third floor of the Casa Sur Palmero hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday.
Just days before her death, Kate shared a touching post dedicated to the singer.
The blonde beauty had snapped a photo of the pop star horseback riding in the countryside. Liam can be seen wearing a casual grey T-shirt as he sits on a horse and talks to someone who appears to be helping him.
Underneath the photo, Kate wrote: ‘I’m so grateful for the simple things in life’.
Before the singer passed away, he posted a final post on Snapchat showing him happily posing with Kate as they looked into a mirror. An original photo was taken in August last year.
She recently recounted on TikTok how the pair met in California and how their meeting almost never happened because she tried her best to get off work that night.
She said: ‘I work at a bar/lounge called Ritual. Me and all my friends work there, it was only my second week of work and I didn’t want to work every weekend.
‘They put me on my second week and I really wanted to take off. I tried everything I could to get a break but it didn’t work.
‘On the way to work, my manager texted me and said, ‘Liam Payne from One Direction is here, you’re looking after him tonight.’
Kate admits she was “freaked out” about having to approach Liam’s table and was initially apprehensive.
She said: ‘The first time I approached him, I was nervous and stopped and turned around. I guess we looked at each other awkwardly for a second.
‘We talked about it because he said to [his friend] Conor, ‘Oh my gosh, have you seen that girl coming this way? I’m not leaving this bar until I’ve got her number.’
‘Then I turned around two minutes later. He was like, ‘Is there any way I can get a table inside?’ He was literally sitting inside drinking Red Bulls and I didn’t think anything of it, I just thought he was being too friendly, I didn’t think he was flirting with me.’
Kate said that every time she approached Liam’s table, he would invite her to sit with him and quickly ask for her number.
She said: ‘Every time I went up to his table to ask him how he was, he’d say sit down! I have family in London and I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to London to visit my cousin’ and he was like, ‘I’d love to be your tour guide when you come.’ I was like, Okay, I can feel you’re flirting with me.
‘He asked for my number and I didn’t know to put in a +1 because I’m from America. I just put in my area code 201 and he tried texting me but it kept going green, it just didn’t go through.
‘He thought I had put it in wrong, like he didn’t care. I was mad all night and then he realised I forgot to put in a +1 and it went through.’
They had another incident that night when Kate’s phone ran out of battery when she went to bed and Liam thought she had blocked his number.
She recalls: ‘I actually didn’t plug it in before I went to bed that night so when I woke up in the morning it was dead. When he finally got the number to call, he thought I had blocked him because it didn’t say delivered.
‘The next morning I texted him and said I’m so sorry for replying so late, what time is your flight back to the UK? He said I could come and see him for lunch before I went to the airport.
‘We went for lunch and it went really well, then went bowling and went to a ghost town, basically we had one of our first dates in a cemetery.
‘He extended his flight and then extended it again the next day so he was in Charleston for three days. That’s the story of how we met.
‘Literally everything that happens is for a reason. Don’t take time off work because you want to go to a party because you never know, you might meet your future husband.’
