The Jonas Brothers took a moment at their concert to pay tribute to Liam Payne.
Three weeks after Liam Payne’s death, the tributes are still pouring in. The Jonas Brothers paid tribute to the late One Direction star by performing “Night Changes” at their concert in Highland, California on Sunday, Nov. 11. Many fans caught the moment on video and got emotional when Nick, Joe and Kevin sang the lyrics “We’re only gettin’ older, baby/ And I’ve been thinkin’ about it lately/ Does it ever drive you crazy/ Just how fast the night changes?”
The crowd sang along and at the end, Nick sang part of the last line — “It’ll never change….” — before pointing to the audience to finish it for him. … for me and you.”
Fans were left emotional at the stadium and even at home. One person commented under a TikTok video: “my childhood boy band singing my teen boy bands song [pleading face emojis].” Another person wrote: “One direction literally took over for them when they broke up, at least for me. This just broke meee [loudly crying face emoji]” A third person wrote: “This made me cry bc of how powerful this is. Thank you JoBros for praying tribute to Liam and One Direction.. they understand [loudly crying face emoji].” A fourth use wrote: “The Jonas brothers introduced me to what loving a boy band and being a fan felt like. Them singing night changes by 1D really came full circle for me [pleading face emoji].”
Liam, 31, died on October 16 after falling from a third story balcony from his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The singer was a part of the popular boy group One Direction, including Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger formed the group on the popular reality television show The X Factor in 2010.
On Thursday, November 7, the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office issued a press release stating that the former One Direction member’s toxicological results had been shared with his family, revealing traces of “alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants.”
