Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was noticeably absent from the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe this year after competing in the celebrity golf event for the four years prior.

Interestingly, Mahomes has finished behind the other ‘Patrick’ every year that he’s competed in that event, Patrick Peterson. You’d think that a guy with a 130-yard par-3 in his backyard would be a ringer but he’s a 7.7 index and according to Mahomes, hasn’t had a hole-in-one yet on his own par-3 despite hitting well over a 1,000 balls at the cup
Speaking with a SiriusXM audience, Patrick Mahomes talked about his golf game and specifically why he won’t play golf with Travis Kelce, calling his future Hall of Fame tight end “a bad influence.”
While it was all in jest, of course, because Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce spend an inordinate amount of time together, it is funny to see the father of 2 with a third on the way calling Travis Kelce “a bad influence” because that’s Dad Speak™ for ‘he gets after it on the course and then I have to go home and deal with needy toddlers and I can’t keep up.”
It’s also great to hear Patrick Mahomes talk about getting his kids into golf at such a young age. More specifically, how he has tricked his children into picking up all of the golf balls on the 130-yard par-3 in his backyard by turning it into a game of which kid can pick up the most golf balls. That’s top tier fathering right there.
Patrick Mahomes did signal that he’ll be back at the American Century Championship in Tahoe next year alongside Travis Kelce. In Mahomes’ previous appearances, he has finished 62nd in 2023, 51st in 2022, 50th in 2021, and t38th in 2020. He’s due
