Kim Kardashian’s Attempt to Buy O.J. Simpson’s Bible Rejected by Estate Executor
Kim Kardashian recently made a heartfelt attempt to reclaim a piece of her family’s history, hoping to purchase a Bible once owned by O.J. Simpson and gifted to him by her late father, Robert Kardashian. However, her efforts were ultimately blocked due to legal constraints surrounding the sale of Simpson’s estate items.
Kim’s $15,000 Offer for the Bible
According to Malcolm LaVergne, the executor of O.J. Simpson’s estate, Kim Kardashian’s team reached out last month with a direct offer of $15,000 for the Bible. The Holy Bible in question holds significant sentimental value—it was a personal gift from Robert Kardashian to Simpson, complete with a handwritten inscription from Kim’s father. In addition to the Bible, Kim’s team also inquired about any other personal items that may have once belonged to Robert Kardashian.
However, despite Kim’s offer, LaVergne had no choice but to reject the proposal. The Bible, along with other personal effects belonging to Simpson, was already legally bound to be sold at auction. This decision was made as part of a court order to liquidate assets in order to pay off Simpson’s outstanding debts—specifically, the civil suit judgment awarded to the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, who won a lawsuit holding O.J. liable for their deaths.
Why the Estate Couldn’t Accept Kim’s Offer
LaVergne explained that accepting Kardashian’s private offer outside of the auction would not only be legally complicated but also financially impractical. The legal costs to adjust the sale process alone would amount to nearly as much as the offer itself, making it an unreasonable move. Additionally, he expressed concerns about facing potential lawsuits from Goldin Auctions, the firm handling the sale, if he attempted to divert any items from the official auction process.
While LaVergne acknowledged the sentimental value the Bible might hold for Kim, he made it clear that the only way for her to obtain it was through the public auction—where anyone else could also place bids. The auction officially opened this week, leaving the fate of the Bible uncertain as bidders compete for ownership.
The Deep Connection Between the Kardashians and O.J. Simpson
Kim’s father, Robert Kardashian, was once one of O.J. Simpson’s closest friends and played a significant role in his infamous 1994 murder trial. As part of Simpson’s legal “Dream Team,” Robert stood beside Simpson alongside high-profile attorneys such as Johnnie Cochran, Robert Shapiro, F. Lee Bailey, and Alan Dershowitz.
However, despite defending O.J. in court, Robert Kardashian later admitted to having doubts about his friend’s innocence. In an interview with Barbara Walters, he expressed concerns over the DNA evidence presented in the case, which cast a shadow over his previous loyalty to Simpson.
The relationship between Simpson and Robert Kardashian eventually deteriorated after the trial, with the two becoming distant in the years that followed. Given this complex history, it’s understandable why Kim may have wanted to retrieve a personal artifact linking her father to a pivotal chapter in his life.
Will Kim Get the Bible?
At this point, it remains to be seen whether Kim Kardashian will attempt to secure the Bible through the auction or if it will end up in the hands of another bidder. With the auction now open, all eyes will be on how much the Bible will ultimately sell for and whether Kim is willing to outbid others to reclaim this unique piece of Kardashian family history.
TMZ has reached out to Kim for a statement regarding her failed private offer, but as of now, she has yet to respond. Meanwhile, the auction continues, and the legacy of one of the most infamous legal cases in history lives on through the sale of Simpson’s possessions.
